Meeting Announcement:
We invite you to join us at the 5th Lagrangian Analysis and Prediction of Coastal and Ocean Dynamics (LAPCOD) meeting. LAPCOD V will take place on Miami Beach, June 11-15, 2012 at the well-known Shelborne Hotel, (http://www.shelborne.com/). Sessions include Oil Spill Modeling and Lagrangian Prediction; Biological, Chemical, and Ecosystem Applications; Dispersion and Transport Theory; Lagrangian Observations and Instruments; and the Future of Lagrangian Exploration, Research, and Experiments. Talks on the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill and on all aspects of modeling oil spills are especially encouraged. There will be a group dinner in honor of Tom Rossby's 75th birthday on June 14.
It is very important to note that we have a limited number of speaking slots and discounted hotel rooms (only for June 10 to 15), as well as limited meeting space. The registration site will be closed when we reach capacity, so please submit your abstracts, register for the meeting and for the hotel (mention LAPCOD) as soon as possible by starting at http://www.rsmas.miami.edu/LAPCOD/2012_Miami_Beach/.
LAPCOD V is being organized by the
Consortium for Advanced Research on Transport of Hydrocarbon in the Environment (CARTHE)
funded by the Gulf of Mexico Research Institute
(http://www.gulfresearchinitiative.org/).
We hope too see you in South Beach at this exciting oceanfront location for a very unique
meeting whose focus is the Lagrangian viewpoint for observing, studying, modeling, and
predicting nature.
Cheers,
